was born in the Pacific Northwest with a passion for food and cooking. She has 15+ years of food service experience and has been the Owner and Executive Chef of Mother’s Roots since 2015.
She graduated from Bastyr University in 2017 with a BS in Nutrition and Culinary Arts where she specialized in therapeutic cooking, working with holistic ingredients, and creative menu planning for specific health and dietary needs. During her education, Chef worked with clients with extreme dietary conditions to create tailored meals that nourished the body and mind.
Janna has a passion for local, beyond organic foods and wild foraged ingredients. Some of her most fond memories come from digging razor clams on the coast, fishing in the Salish Sea, wild foraging mushrooms and herbs from the forest and collecting seaweed from the shoreline. Janna also keeps a large garden at her home outside of Olympia.
